Star Trek

I love it.

It cannot really be compared to the original movies or the television series. It's more like the Willy Wonka movie with Johnny Depp - completely different from the original but not quite equal enough to compare. Really, this movie is an alternate universe version of the Star Trek we know and love.

Oh, and I love Zachary Quinto as younger Spock. This could be due to the fact that I have a Spock fetish, or just because he's awesome.

Genetic Emancipation

It's one of the best songs from Repo, which I talked about in my last post.

EDIT: Apparently there WAS a music contest involving songs of some kind. It ended in November, as the movie came out. You can still post submissions... I doubt I can be voted for, however...

Hope you enjoyed!

Repo! The Genetic Opera

It's pretty much a necessity to see it if you haven't (and I gather that's the case). Here's one of the best musical numbers from the rock opera:

Yes, that's Paris Hilton. No, you don't realize it most of the time.

There are a myriad of great actors in this film, including Paul Sorvino and Anthony Stewart Head.

Go rent it, see it in a live theater, drag over a friend with the film to your dorm room and make them watch it. Whatever you do, go see this movie. I guarantee it's nothing like any musical you've ever seen. The music itself is an entirely different thing than we've seen before.

One Day More

In high school, awebunch of my friends (and my sister!) and I were in Les Miserables. While everyone ended up getting bronchitis and, in fact, being miserable, it was one of the funnest experiences of my life. SO, imagine my happiness while surfing Funnyordie.com (run by Will Ferrell and his friends - think YouTube but all comedy) today and finding this lovely video.

I'm spreading it around like wildfire. Palin as Madame Thenardier is amazingly awesome. Honestly, I think this is the best video since... umm... the press conference over Yost getting fired yesterday?

Movie news

So as a youngster, I was confident in the fact that I would start a famous newsletter, or blog I suppose, about celebrities and such - heavier on the news and not the gossip though. I definitely don't want to become the next Perez Hilton (although the hair is semi-snazzy). So here's the important stuff going on in the entertainment world.

First off, a new Terminator trilogy is starting up, starring Christian Bale... Ugh. I love him so much, but the Terminator trilogy? I thought he was better than to get involved in a series that had been over-filmed... Ha. Hopefully this will be an update akin to Batman Begins. The rumor mill has it that he's set to play John Connor, but that has yet to be revealed officially.

The ever-beautiful, ever-giving Angelina Jolie is set to star in a new spy movie. It is based on real-life intelligence operative Kathi Lynn Austin's experiences in arms trafficking and terrorism. Think feminine Bourne Identity.

Edward Norton, who is wanting to get more involved in films that make a difference (perhaps a close friendship with Fight Club co-star Brad Pitt is to blame?), is set to star in the new Leaves of Grass. It's a challenging role, playing twins, but I'm confident Norton can pull it off.

In super-happy news, the writer's strike is hopefully ending soon, as mediators say they feel that they are close to a deal.

And in Burton news... Sweeny Todd, the crazy musical based on a serial killer barber, has been filmed, edited, and is set to be released just before Christmas (Dec 21). With an all-star cast including Burton regulars Johnny Depp (Sweeny Todd) and Helena Bonham Carter (Mrs. Lovett). Alan Rickman and Borat's Sacha Baron Cohen are also set to star. For more film information, go to IMDB.

Whelp, hope you enjoyed the movie update. Regular posting to return sometime in the future.
